Woodford House is one of the finest girl prep schools in the country. From the very first day a student steps into the school grounds, we make sure she feels welcome, happy, included and supported.
Our strong pastoral care programme helps girls transition into Woodford House smoothly. Part of that programme includes pairing your daughter with a friendly senior student who will be her buddy or ‘big sister’ as she settles into her new school.
The Intermediate Department has three mixed ability composite Year 7/8 classes of approximately 20 girls per class. During timetabled mathematics, the girls move into ability classes. Specialist subject teachers provide high interest and comprehensive science, art, music, drama, and food and material technology programmes. Individual learning needs, including support and extension, are identified early and targeted in a manner that best suits the learner.
Each student receives ongoing self-management guidance and is encouraged to build positive relationships with peers and staff as this provides them with a positive platform to springboard into their academic goals.
By the time the girls leave the Intermediate Department they have the knowledge, skills and can-do attitude to confidently move into the High School at Year 9.
