Student Support Assistant

Permanent, Part time (32.5 hours per week), Term time only 

Woodford House is seeking a warm, highly organised Student Support Assistant to provide front‑line administrative and operational support to our Boarding community and wider team.

This role is supporting boarding operations and compliance, and positive relationships with students, parents and staff.

About the role

Reporting to the Director of People and Administration, the Student Support Assistant provides high‑quality administrative support to ensure a safe, well‑organised and welcoming environment for boarding students and their families.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Being a first point of contact for boarding enquiries during the school day
  • Supporting the Director of Boarding with pastoral and administrative processes
  • Managing boarding leave and travel logistics
  • Maintaining accurate records, emergency lists and evacuation procedures
  • Administering Orah, including leave passes and parent liaison
  • Supporting boarding events and whānau functions
  • Providing flexible administration office cover as required

 

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has strong interpersonal skills and enjoys working with teenagers
  • Communicates confidently and professionally with parents, staff and visitors
  • Is highly organised, accurate and calm under pressure
  • Can work flexibly in a busy, dynamic school environment
  • Has strong computer and administration skills
  • Uses initiative and good judgement while following established procedures
  • Is supportive of, and aligned with, the Special Character and values of Woodford House

Alumnae Engagement Officer

Permanent, Part-time 20-25 hours per week, 52 weeks

About the Role

We are seeking a part-time Alumnae Engagement Officer to support and grow relationships with our alumnae community. This permanent role (20–25 hours per week) works closely with the Director of Communications and the Woodford House Old Girls’ Association Executive.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging alumnae communications across newsletters, email, social media and publications
  • Planning and coordinating alumnae events, reunions and special functions
  • Managing and maintaining accurate alumnae records and database
  • Acting as a key point of contact for alumnae enquiries and engagement
  • Providing administrative support to WHOGA and supporting Foundation related activities

About You

You are an organised, approachable and digitally confident professional who enjoys working with people and building strong relationships.

You will bring:

  • Experience in communications, marketing, event coordination or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using databases, Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • A professional, proactive and collaborative working style

A connection to the Woodford House community or experience working with membership or community organisations would be an advantage.

Assistant Director of Boarding

Permanent, full-time, term time only

Term time only hours provide balance, while working within a close knit leadership team offers professional growth and purpose.


About Us
Woodford House is a leading special character, state integrated boarding and day school for Year 7–13 girls in Hawke’s Bay. We nurture each girl who walks through our doors so that her light shines brighter, and our boarding environment is central to that commitment.

About the Role
The Assistant Director of Boarding provides leadership to ensure a safe, supportive, and enriching boarding environment. Working closely as part of the Boarding Leadership Team, you will oversee daily operations, lead a team of Boarding Supervisors, and champion student wellbeing, pastoral care, and compliance with health and safety standards.
This role is term time only, averaging 60 hours per week (including sleeping overnight).

Rostered hours:
• Wednesday 2.30pm – Thursday 8.30am
• Thursday 2.45pm – Friday 8.30am
• Friday 2.30pm – Saturday 8.30am
• Saturday 5.00pm – Sunday 8.30am (fortnightly)

Key Responsibilities
• Manage boarding house operations while on shift
• Lead, support, and develop the Boarding Supervisor team
• Ensure high standards of pastoral care and student wellbeing
• Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements and school policies
• Build positive and effective relationships with parents and the wider school community

What We’re Looking For
• Experience in boarding, education, or a care environment
• Strong leadership and team management capability
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A genuine commitment to student welfare and positive boarding experiences
• Computer literacy

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and be able to satisfactorily pass all pre employment checks, including Police Vetting and reference checks.
